Equilibrium Launches Innovative Employee Wellbeing Program and Immersive Space

Left to Right: Nicolas Crema, Mia Basic and Andrew Barbone

A new force in employee wellbeing, Equilibrium stands as a revolutionary platform and approach to reshaping the people and culture strategies of today, in both digital and physical realms.

Co-founder of Equilibrium, Mia Basic, witnessed first-hand the importance of restructuring employee wellbeing initiatives, as a former litigation lawyer-turned-advocate for the preventative investment in the wellbeing of working professionals, most importantly across high performing and demanding industries.

Joining forces with Nicolas Crema and Andrew Barbone of property development company Projects by Crema, Equilibrium was born from the vision to bridge the gap between ideation and practice – creating a first-of-its-kind, innovative program for holistic, preventative employee support.

Introducing a unique perspective from contrasting industries of property development and law, to the intersection of business success and employee wellness, together the Equilibrium founders recognised the critical need for a comprehensive and sustainable wellbeing solution within the corporate world.

A Paradigm Shift from ‘Band-Aid’ Initiatives

Equilibrium challenges the shortcomings of traditional wellbeing initiatives implemented across the board, with businesses commonly relying on ‘quick-fix’ solutions like Employee Assistance Programs and adhoc wellness workshops. Equilibrium presents itself as an effective, long-term program for businesses to adopt as part of their current business strategies.

Central to Equilibrium's uniqueness is its integration of the online platform, with an unprecedented physical space located in Melbourne’s Domain Precinct, moments from ANZAC Station, called EQ Melbourne.

Mia and her co-founders strategically designed Equilibrium for employers to showcase their intentions and how they care about their own staff, by directly targeting pain points related to employee attraction, retention, engagement, and workplace culture.

"Equilibrium represents a paradigm shift in how businesses approach employee wellbeing. Our program is not just a solution; it's a commitment to fostering a culture of holistic support. With EQ Melbourne, we have created a space where teams can transform ideas into practice – reinforcing the impact of our digital platform.

“It's about making wellbeing an integral part of corporate DNA, ensuring sustained success and fulfilment for both employees and organisations,” said Mia.

How It Works: The Equilibrium Experience

The physical space of EQ Melbourne complements the digital learnings of the Equilibrium Program – providing an accessible and practical wellbeing experience that people can incorporate into their daily routines. The space includes hot and cold therapy, light and sound therapy, a rain room, meditation, breathwork, and a diverse range of opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The program utilises customised reporting and analytics, enabling businesses to monitor specific metrics, such as turnover rates and absenteeism being highly prevalent issues in the workplace. This approach empowers businesses to make informed decisions with confidence, ensuring a positive and quantifiable ROI from the Equilibrium program.

Science-backed by industry professionals

Mia’s vision in creating The Equilibrium Program was to deliver members the practical tools to meet professional demands from a suite of experienced, credible health and wellbeing experts.

With an emphasis on real experiences in high-stress professional roles, Equilibrium is a science-backed, evidence-based program tailored by a dynamic and experienced team of collaborators, among the likes of:

Dr. Peter Brukner – Former team doctor to Melbourne and Collingwood Football Clubs, national swimming, athletics, soccer and cricket teams, and Liverpool Football Club

Jessica Rothwell – Accredited Practising Clinical and Sports Dietician and National High Performance Nutrition Lead for Athletics Australia

Dr Jacqueline Rakov – General and Forensic Psychiatrist

Pratik Patel – Former NFL New York Giants’ Director of Performance

Equilibrium leverages key subject matter experts, data and reporting, to offer businesses of all sizes democratised access to wellbeing programs they ordinarily would not be able to access or implement.
