Townsville's First Luxury Hotel with Tropical North Queensland's Only Rooftop Pool

Ardo has released previously unseen imagery for Tropical North Queensland's first and only rooftop pool, imagining the mesmerising infinity waterfall ledge seamlessly merging with unparalleled panoramic views of the Coral Sea and Magnetic Island.

Ardo, will open at the end of this year as Townsville's first luxury hotel, with the rooftop sanctuary, sitting 25 metres above sea level, the jewel in the crown. The north-facing lap pool will feature green glass mosaic tiles, surrounded by terracotta-hued sun loungers, and a Rooftop Bar serving exquisite cocktails, completing this oasis amongst the clouds.

While access to the rooftop pool and the 48 surrounding daybeds will be a perk for hotel guests only, bookings will be available to the public for Ardo’s Rooftop Bar, and a world-class meat and seafood restaurant, Marmor, also situated on the hotel’s top-level.

Excitement for the hotel’s launch later this year is growing. Construction of the pool will be complete and filled by the end of September, and with bookings for the hotel and rooftop spaces expected to be announced soon, Australian holiday makers can now start to dream of a summer in tropical bliss.

“Ardo’s rooftop offering will herald the arrival of summer in North Queensland as the hottest new place to worship sizzling sunsets over the Coral Sea. The region’s first ever rooftop bar and infinity pool is set to deliver a new level of luxury and relaxation in the tropics, all within an architecturally designed five-star resort.

“Is there anything more resplendent than sipping a cool drink over a glittering glass pool with 360 degree views of the world’s largest and most celebrated reef system? Infinity pools are infinitely better when you can feel like you’re floating in that glorious abyss where the sky meets the sea - so it’s the ultimate in holiday relaxation in the north.” said Ardo and The Ville CEO, Michael Jones.

Working closely with esteemed architecture firm, Dubois, with an impressive portfolio of considered, practical and beautiful designs, Ardo was designed to showcase a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality for guests, that will deepen the connection with the surrounding environment and elevate the poolside experience.

Founder of Dubois, David Dubois, states that Ardo stands as a true testament to architectural ingenuity through the creative development of the rooftop landscape.

“Inspiration began with the hotel’s exceptional location. Every aspect of its design has been considered to showcase the uninterrupted ocean view and the stunning sunsets that come from its unique position on the breakwater.

“The team has shown significant effort in seamlessly converging every element, from vibrant greenery to operable sun louvres, to craft a haven of opulence and serenity,” he said.

Ardo will open with 132 rooms and suites, with private balconies and courtyards that will enjoy the same panoramic views as the rooftop sanctuary, and every movement of the sun, allowing the spectacle of North Queensland to stretch out from bedside to the horizon. This $88m development is a world class integrated holiday destination for outdoor adventures, luxury getaways, family activities and a destination for gourmands.

Ardo is the latest addition to the tourism portfolio of Morris Group which includes sister property, The Ville Resort-Casino, located next door on the Townsville Breakwater. Morris Group also owns and operates Northern Escape Collection, a suite of boutique properties spread across the distinct and diverse landscapes of Queensland: Orpheus Island Lodge, Mt Mulligan Lodge, and Beechmont Estate.
